Byron Katie in Toronto, October 2 to 4, 2009
« on: June 07, 2009, 01:53:50 AM »
Hi there,

Just wanted to let everyone know that Byron Katie will be doing a weekend event (workshop) in Toronto Canada this coming October 2 to 4, 2009.

A little exert from the website for those who don't know her:

Byron Katie, has one job: to teach people how to end their own suffering. When Katie appears, lives change. As she guides people through her simple yet powerful process of inquiry, called "The Work", they find again and again that their stressful beliefs — about life, other people, or themselves — radically shift. Anyone with an open mind can do The Work.

Join Katie in a powerful workshop that will take you on an incredible journey of self-discovery.

"Byron Katie’s Work is a great blessing for our planet. It acts like a razor-sharp sword that cuts through illusion and enables you to know for yourself the timeless essence of your being."

– Eckhart Tolle

As many of you know I am a big fan of Byron Katie and would like to spread her message and work to as many people as possible so they can benefit as many of us here have already. Will hopefully be doing this with other influential teachers in the future too.[:)]

Yogani will have a link page to AYP soon.

The website is still under construction but more information can be found here:

Hi Ananda,

You are right, we are lucky, the world needs more great teachers and no doubt especially the places with the most conflict.

I have been fortunate enough to meet several wonderful teachers like Eckhart Tolle, Miguel Ruiz, Byron Katie, Adyashanti at events like retreats, workshops, talks, etc. and they have been amazing life changing experiences, allowing for great strides in consciousness.

Hopefully in the years to come, these kinds of teachers will be accessible and available to all.[:)]

Hi Katrine,

Thanks for dropping by. The message of Inner Silence is "out there" and the idea here is to bring it to this part of the world whenever possible. I look forward to having a Satsang with Katrine in Toronto in the future![:)]

lot's of love to you both,[:)]

Luckey you guys in Toronto.
Was fortunated to see her in Dublin and London for one day each. It's hard to imagine, but the experience of her in the flesh, so to speak, is even more alive and inspirational.

Hi Louis,

Thanks for stopping by.[:)]

Yes, I have started a new initiative or business, "Inspirational Works" and although the website http://www.inspirationalworks.net is more like a Byron Katie shrine at the moment, it will in the future be more balanced and dedicated to directing people (from my perspective) to those who carry the most powerful, transformative and life-changing messages and to bringing them to Canada to present their work. Too bad Yogani doesn't do public events (though I totally understand why he doesn't) or else I would be knocking down his door to get him up here!

So there will be a series of carefully chosen links to sites like AYP, Tolle, BK etc. and hopefully help the wonderful teachers of our time get the word out to the masses in this small corner of the world. But then again who knows, this whole initiative is evolving constantly in new directions, it seems to have a life of its own.[:D]

Hope all is well with you.[:)]

Wow....thanks for that Andrew [:)]
It will be a priviledge to come to Toronto.

And thank you so much for the work you are doing.
People like yourself.....who "gather together"....and organize in different ways....giving heart, intent, energy and time.......you actually make it happen. Byron Katie and all the other great teachers would have a hard time reaching so many...... were it not for this.

You know.....I was hiking in the hills here today......looking at the springy unfolding of the leaves....grass...flowers.....and the fresh light green "feathers"....on the fur trees. The river caressing obstruction and space alike. Mother Nature is such a great teacher.....

May I always remember that I am nothing....so that everything can flow like she does.

Much love to you too [:)]

Hi Anthem....

If you ever want to have these people do more then just come to Toronto, and perhaps do Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver (or something along those lines) you should let me know.  I have a few connections still (from my band days) to some wonderful venues and promoters (especially in the western provinces) and would love to help get more of these type of workshops etc out to Western Canada.  If there is ANYTHING I can do to help please let me know.

Love,
Carson[^]

P.S> Perhaps a "Satsang with Katrine" Canada tour?[;)]

Hi Carson,

Sounds like a great idea,[:)] thanks for the offer. Once we get past this event and grow things a little here, would be more than happy to look at doing some cross country tours.

All the best,

A

Hi Louis,

Thank you for the kind words.[:)]

You're right, meeting them is a great bonus and another unexpected one for me is how enjoyable it is to deal with the very kind people in their organizations around them. Not to mention the people attracted to events of this nature are sort of like minded to us around here.[8D]

Just finished hosting Byron Katie in Toronto last weekend. We had over 500 people attend on the opening night and about 420 for the remainder of the weekend. It was truly a magical workshop with many writing in to say they had profound life changing experiences being in her presence. She is truly a gift for our planet giving so many the opportunity to let go of long held pain and suffering and helping to facilitate increased self awareness in all those who come into contact with her and who do "The Work" that she teaches.

It is pretty amazing to watch how Katie just being in Toronto has a powerful "ripple effect" as those who attended share their experiences with others and has also lead to the creation of "Inquiry Circles" where people come together to do the work with each other in groups all across the country. So the impact of her work affects so many more than the initial people she interacts with personally.

On a personal level it was pretty amazing to be able to interact with her fairly often throughout the weekend and with her husband Stephen Mitchell too who is wonderful to be around. You feel like you've known them for a long time in a short while. There were many opportunities where a comment of mine would lead to Katie lowering the "hammer of truth" as I call it and helping me to be aware of how mind (mine/ ours) was always projecting onto reality. In fact when she spoke to me often from an unedited "non-dual" perspective it helped me to understand that all was a projection of the one mind. Since then I have been much more aware of how mind is constantly projecting and the seeing of it brings it to an abrupt halt.

It was also wonderful to hear from Katie that she thinks meditation is a wonderful compliment to inquiry and how open she is to other systems of practice like yoga etc as being beneficial practices as well and encourages it.

What a blessing, so grateful for her support and willingness to come to Toronto and a wonderful quiet at the moment internally, calm and peaceful, hard to talk really.[:)]
